Forest dept. project boosts income of Idukki dam’s tribal fishers

Earlier, Oorali tribespeople used to fish from the reservoir and sell to middlemen cheaply. Under Malsyaranyakam, launched in 2019, the price is fixed and members of a group sell the fish from a stall. Ninety per cent of the income is deposited in the fishers’ accounts.
